Meet Dr. Amy Waltz

Dr. Amy Waltz is one of the founders and owner/operators of Family Pet Medical Clinic. She was born and raised in Independence, Missouri, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 2003. She began her career in veterinary medicine by attending Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science with a Major in Agricultural Science in 2007.

Dr. Waltz attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri and graduated in 2011. She practiced small animal medicine for five years in Independence, Missouri, and an additional six years in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, before opening Family Pet Medical Clinic with her husband, Shelby Waltz, in 2022.

Shelby and Amy Waltz live in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. They have two daughters, Cali and Hailey. They have a family pet named June Bug, an 8-year-old female spayed English Bull Terrier that is sweet and full of life.
Dr. Waltz’s interests in Veterinary Medicine include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, lagomorph (rabbit) and small mammal medicine/surgery, clinical pathology, and internal medicine. Her mission is to help provide a veterinary practice that feels inviting and is low stress for patients, their families, and our staff. “We all deserve to enjoy Veterinary medicine as much as I do.”

Meet Shelby

Shelby Waltz is one of the founders and owners/operators of Family Pet Medical Clinic. He was born and raised in Garden City, Kansas. In 1993, his family moved to Stanley, Kansas, where he finished his secondary education at Blue Valley High School, graduating in 1997. Shelby went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science with a Major in Aviation Management from Oklahoma State University in 2008.

Shelby began a successful career in sales/ distribution and then moved into inventory and procurement. Shelby met Dr. Waltz in 2011 and married in 2014.

Mr. and Dr. Waltz received their dog June Bug as an early wedding present in 2014. They had their first daughter, Cali, in 2018 and their second daughter, Hailey, in 2020. Shelby’s interests include inventory and business management. Shelby will serve as business owner and office manager of Family Pet Medical Clinic.
